At Elmer C. Ebling Memorial Charity, Inc., we are passionate about building a strong community. Our journey began in 1948 when Elmer C. Ebling and wife Maggie donated lands to Ulrich Playground Association with a mission to provide a playground for the community. We now know this area as the Myerstown Recreation Park.
Our mission is to provide exceptional outdoor recreation opportunities that bring the community together, build relationships, and enjoy the lands in which the good lord has provided us. We believe that spending time outdoors is essential for a healthy and fulfilling life, and we strive to make it accessible to all. One of our missions is to provide the Myerstown park with funding to purchase repairs and new equipment.
What we do at Elmer C. Ebling Memorial Charity, Inc. is a variety of recreation activities. We work together with the Myerstown Recreation Board to provide opportunities to the public that wouldn’t be available without them. We plan activities, offer volunteer work in our recreation area, and host community events. All to bring the community together.
Elmer was born in 1885 by Ephraim and Susan. At young age, Elmer had a passion for his community. Elmer also aquired property in Myerstown in 1930s that would later be known as Ebling’s Meat Market. Elmer had two daughters, Annie and Helen. He also had 7 sons. One of his sons, Jay, passed away at a young age due to a horse accident. The other six ran the market when he retired in 1956. Stanley, Elmer, Warren, Vernon, Robert, And David. They retired one at a time over the years. Robert and wife Gloria Ebling lived at and ran the meat market for many years, until Robert passed away in 2007.
